It’s handy that Rob’s last name rhymes with Hell.
I just finished his new book called “Love Wins: A Book about Heaven, Hell, and the Fate of Every Person who Ever Lived.” Wow. What a title. Why can’t I think of stuff like that? : )
If you’re head’s above water, then you’ve seen the controversy that this book has stirred up. Piper and Driscoll calling it heresy. The funky cool trendy emergent types saying “finally…” And I’m smack in the middle. I like his thesis. His main thoughts. I don’t land where he does, but he sure asks all the hard questions. Just doesn’t provide very satisfying answers. Reminds me of another man….
What do you think? A literal heaven and hell that exist “out there somewhere” where we go when we die? Either sitting with angels flying around in the clouds or burning forever in fire? And do kids of a certain age get a free pass to heaven? And do the natives in the jungles who have never heard….? You know the deal? Have you thought deeply about these things? Really searched the scriptures? Do you care? Does it matter?
Those are all real questions. I know we can get in trouble asking questions that we’re supposed to have answered, but I’d like to ask anyway. What do you think?
